nat in art land 2 – donut heart video premiere
the berlin based uke rock band DONUT HEART
(i wrote a little bit about them before)
celebrated their music video premiere at ludwig in berlin on may 25
and i was invited to join them on stage for bodypainting.
in this picture:my human canvas, me and alfred ladylike, frontwoman of donut heart
i also painted donuts and other sweet bakery on every person that was willing to PLUS
SUZANNE FORBES did amazing live documentary drawing during the event.

Das Fluff – Post Punk Electro Filth
Let me introduce to you: the she-devil herself Dawn Lintern with her band post punk electro band Das Fluff.

Das Fluff concerts are quite a wild ride. I remember the first time I saw them live last winter. I was pretty blown away by the show as I had never seen anything like it. Dawn’s stage presence is mesmerising, almost intimidating.*
Together with Christian Ruland on the electronic front and Stefan ‘Misty’ Missfeld on guitar Dawn Lintern creates an atmosphere on stage that strikes you with awe – in the best possible way. It’s something you just have to experience yourself live really but here’s a taste.

Das Fluff have already toured several countries in Europe, Asia and America in the past years but are about to conquer (for them) new territory on March 31: HAMBURG!

Hi. I’m Rah. Rah fookin’ Hell
I’m the new one. Today I was kindly added to the New Artist Army blog by Natascha Artworx.
So let me introduce myself…
I’m a musician. My favouritest thing to do in the whole world is to play the drums and to make people dance!
I also play a bit of ukulele.

I enjoy making people happy in general. It makes me happy. I like to make this scary world a little brighter so I do what I can. And I think this blog is a good opportunity to contribute at least a little.
I live in Berlin and am well connected to the music, art and comedy scene here. So I will keep you updated on all the hot shit that’s going down pretty much every day in Belin. And I’ll feed you information about events and projects all over the planet of artists that are worth checking out.
I currently play in a quirky all chicks uke rock band called Donut Heart. Nat recently wrote about a show we played with Sh…Diam in Hamburg at Linker Laden.
And about our CD release gig in October 2016.

Once a month I host an open stage called Uke Boogie at Lagari in Neukölln. As the name already gives away, it’s an open mic night for mainly ukuleles – and other instruments that aren’t guitars (it’s on every second Thursday of the month, next one: April 13. (I’ll tell you more about that in a separate blog post)).

I’m also involved in the Freudian Slip Club Berlin founded by my wonderful friend Liliana Velásquez. The Slip Club deserves a separate post sometime in the near future. Hang tight.
I’m volunteering for the NGO Sea Shepherd trying to save marine wildlife. Because when the ocean dies, we die. And mateys, it does not look promising, let me tell you that.
What else is there people could be interested in knowing about me? I’m 25 soon, I study event management at Deutsche Pop Akademie and I’m in an on-off relationship with veganism.
I grew up on a pretty remote farm near Eschwege (which is somewhere in the middle of Germany). In 2013 Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra came to my dad’s barn to play a set and party with 70 strangers in the middle of nowhere. That’s where the name Eschvegas comes from which I still like to use when I refer to my hometown. I like the irony as Eschvegas and Las Vegas could hardly be more different.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING SELFIE
Night of the Living Selfie: Natascha Artworx, Donut Heart, SPT, Bang
Natascha*Artworx’s “Internuts Selfie” exhibition is a disturbing and enlightening examination of self-projection in the Internet age, on display at the Kapernaumkirche in Berlin from 31/10 to 25/11/2016. In her adaptation of selfie digital photographs into acrylic paintings, the Hamburg-based artist portrays real people as they see themselves, or as they would like to be seen. On the night of the vernissage, which just happens to be Halloween night, local musicians Stephen Paul Taylor and Donut Heart will haunt the church along with Adrian Bang and another special guest or two. The band will perform as living selfies, dressed in white to act as the canvas for Bang’s psychedelic video projections. With so many layers of selfie inception, everyone (audience, artists, and even the artworks themselves) will be invited to take a healthy look at their own egos and think about how they project! Entry is free, but donations will be collected to benefit a local organization that provides support for people with eating disorders.

The Sinful Path/Der Sündige Pfad

“the sinful path” was the title of a project/art exhibition at a swingers club in hamburg/harburg
with me (natascha artworx), marina schreckling and holger musiol.
special thanx to christoph osburg/osburgfilm for shooting the video of our event.
Auf dem „Sündigen Pfad“ werden sie von Natascha Artworx, Marina Schreckling und Holger Musiol, zwei Malerinnen und ein Performance – Künstler aus Hamburg zu einer Ausstellung geleitet.
Gefunden hatte sich das Trio durch ein Künstlertreffen und die Idee des sündigen Pfades als gemeinsames Projekt entwickelt, indem Natascha Artworx in ihren Bildern die Frage aufwirft „Kann denn Liebe Sünde sein“, während Marina Schreckling die Abgründe der Seele und Laster, wie z.B. Eitelkeit und Gier des Menschen, in düsteren Werken einfängt.
Um dennoch zu gewährleisten, dass niemand durch das Betreten des sündigen Pfades zu Schaden kommt, hat sich Holger Musiol heuer im Heiligen Compostelanisches Jahr bereit erklärt, prophylaktisch den Jacobsweg zu beschreiten. Donut Heart has been busy spreading their love on 7 awesome tracks! Come get a copy of the very first CD they created and celebrate the ukulele rock release with them…there will be glitter! and a DJ! and donuts!

Recorded in April by Sandro Chiaravalle at T berlin, our album was mixed by said audio wiz and then sent to mujician Josh Gura in Sweden for some intensive mojo treatment. The packaging features Marion Barry’s awesome donut logo, another donut designed by Lesley (having no idea what she was doing), and a beautiful painting by Jack Bride, which depicts a scene dreamt by Dara of a stoned unicorn pony blistening to our music in the form of a donut on a Fisher Price record player in a majestic psychedelic wonderland. Rah found a place that makes CDs out of black plastic to look like little vinyl records, so yeah…wait till you see/hear/experience!!
This project has been entirely self-funded and DIY, so we’re charging a small entry price at the release to help cover costs. But if you really can’t afford it, you won’t be turned away.
